Coimbatore: In a bizarre incident, an inebriated man who deliberately walked into a police station and entered into a tussle with the policemen has found his way to the Coimbatore Central prison.
Coimbatore: In a bizarre incident, an inebriated man who deliberately walked into a police station and entered into a tussle with the policemen has found his way to the Coimbatore Central prison.
According to police reports, S Bethukumar (34) entered into Gandhipuram Police station in a drunken state and used abusive language to Sub- Inspector Mahendran, who was in the middle of an enquiry.
Shortly, Bethukumar began squabbling with all the policemen at the station and also used abusive language. While the policemen warned him and tried to send him away, Bethukumar never settled. Left with no option, the Police held him and inquired.
Upon inquiry, it was found that the drunkard was from Andaman and has been working as a daily labourer in Coimbatore. He had entered the police station after visiting a TASMAC, nearby. Following this, the police filed a case and imprisoned him.
In another similar incident, Jothimanickam of Rathinapuri, engaged in a verbal fight with a lady police who was engaged in directing traffic. Subsequently, he was arrested and imprisoned by the Saravanampatti police.
