Former AIADMK MP KC Palanisamy granted conditional bail

Coimbatore: AIADMK former Lok Sabha MP KC Palanisamy, who was expelled from the party in March 2018, and was arrested in Coimbatore on January 25 for allegedly misusing party name and symbol has been conditional granted bail on Tuesday.







Coimbatore: AIADMK former Lok Sabha MP KC Palanisamy, who was expelled from the party in March 2018, and was arrested in Coimbatore on January 25 for allegedly misusing party name and symbol has been conditional granted bail on Tuesday. 

Hearing the bail petition today, Justice Sakthivel of District Principal Court here, heard the arguments of both Palanisamy and Kandavel the AIADMK cadre who lodged an official complaint on Palanisamy or misusing the party name and for allegedly threatening him for questioning. 

Justice Sakthivel granted conditional bail for Palanisamy and ordered him to present himself and sign at the Sulur Court on a daily basis anytime between 10 am to 5 pm.

It may be recalled that Palanisamy was expelled from AIADMK party in March 2018 after he proposed the party to back a no-confidence motion against the BJP-led central government, if it did not take a favourable stand on the Cauvery issue. 

The Case 

Kandhavel, President of Muthukavundanpudur village panchayat near Sulur filed a complaint against KC Palanisamy of misusing the party flag and symbol. He also used the party name and symbol to recruit membership for the party using a mobile application. 

Based on the complaint, the Sulur police on January 25 registered a case against him under 11 sections and arrested him at his residence near Lawly Road in the city. 

Palanisamy was booked under sections 417, 418, 419, 464, 465, 468, 479, 481, 482, 485, 511  of IPC read with 66 C, 66 D of IT Act.
