Foresters have also started burning bushes and grasses along the roads cutting across the reserve near the Theppakadu elephant camp.

The work is being done at a stretch of around 120 kms within the Masinagudi range and around 400 km in Seegur and Singara ranges.
The core ranges including Theppakadu, Kargudi and Mudumalai are being covered in the programme with an area of 300 kms.
Around 120 fire watchers have also been deployed by MTR officials to control and monitor forest fire incidents.
