Coimbatore: The residents of Sugunapuram petitioned the District Collector K Rajamani on Monday to reconsider the decision by the government to close down the primary school functioning in their area.
Coimbatore: The residents of Sugunapuram petitioned the District Collector K Rajamani on Monday to reconsider the decision by the government to close down the primary school functioning in their area.
The petitioners stated that more than 50 children are studying at Bethel Lewis Memorial Primary School, a government-aided school functioning since 1987 in East Kuniyamuthur, Sugunapuram of Perur Zone.
"Citing poor attendance and other reasons, the government has decided to close down the school. Closing down the school will affect the education of children studying in the school and other students who aspire to join the school in Sugunapuram area", the petitioners said.
Hence, they appealed to the Collector to escalate the petition to the concerned officials and help the students. They also urged that the school should be converted into a government school.
