Tirupur: At the grievance meeting held today at the Tirupur District Collectorate, a young woman petitioned against the bank for torturing her on repayment of her past educational loan.

Alleging that the Indian bank on Kamarajar road in Tirupur has been causing severe mental stress to her and her family by forcing to repay the educational loan in full along with interest, a young woman who has just found placement in a private company has resorted to the District Collector for redressal.

Prabha, a resident of Vavipalayam secured 1155 marks in 12th grade and had applied for a bank loan for continuing her education in 2013.

While, she reportedly managed her 1st and 2nd year of college by procuring loan from private money lenders, she had procured an educational loan of Rs.2,69,000 from Kamarajar road, Indian bank in 2013.

She has alleged that despite paying interest for the loan, the bank has been pressurising her to settle an amount of Rs.3,90,000, in full.

Citing that she had joined job only in 2017, she accused the bank for tormenting and sending legal notices to settle the loan.

She petitioned that the incident has caused tremendous mental distress to her hence requested the Collector to waiver the loan.
