Tiruppur: After all complaints to repair the leakage in drinking water pipeline fell in deaf ears, the enraged residents in Tirupur vented out their anger today in a cynical way to alert the Corporation and PWD authorities.
The residents of Venkateswara Nagar Main Street in Kangeyam Road of the 45th Ward have been facing much inconvenience due to a faulty drinking water pipe which has resulted in gallons of water getting wasted, every day.
"All our efforts to alert the concerned officials went in vain, as the issue has been unaddressed for days together. With onset of summer, such wastage of drinking water will attribute to water scarcity", the residents lament.
To garner the attention of the officials, the residents of Venkateswara Nagar bathed and washed clothes in the stagnated pool of water, today. The onlookers were surprised to see the residents's novel way of protest.
It may be recalled that a similar protest by a social activist in Avinashi was attended by the officials the very next day after media reported of him bathing in the water.
