Coimbatore: Clad in blue shirts, over 3000 people on behalf of various Periyar outfits, political parties, anti-caste organisations and public marched against prevailing caste injustices, on Sunday in the city.
Coimbatore: Clad in blue shirts, over 3000 people on behalf of various Periyar outfits, political parties, anti-caste organisations and public marched against prevailing caste injustices, on Sunday in the city.
The rally commenced from Balasundaram Road near Avinashi road in which representatives of 150 organisations including Periyar Unnarvalar Kootamaippu, Periyar Ambedkar Marxist Murpokku Amaippu, VCK, TPDK and others took part.

Pictures of Thanthai Periyar and BR Ambedhkar were carried by the members who raised slogans to abolish caste and the social injustices. They also stressed that the central government should strive to protect and abide by the constitution. "The constitition needs to be respected and protected", they voiced.

Traditional Parai and Silambattam were also held as part of the procession.

The rally was attended by Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam General Secretary K. Ramakrishnan, Makkal Manithaneya Party Jawahirullah, SDPI Tehlan Bhagavi, Aditamilar Peravai Adhiyaman, Dravida Viduthalai Kazhagam, Kolathur Mani.
