Coimbatore: A 46-year-old man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl near Kamarajapuram here on Thursday night, according to police reports.
Coimbatore: A 46-year-old man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl near Kamarajapuram here on Thursday night, according to police reports.
According to reports, the girl was sexually assaulted by the accused at her aunt's place in Kamarajapuram. On Thursday night, the girl complained of pain to her aunt. When talking to the child, the aunt learnt that Anand had lured her with chocolates and took her to his manufacturing unit and sexually assaulted her.
Based on the complaints from the victim's mother at the All Women police station (West) an inquiry was held and the accused was booked under Sections 5 (M) (l) read with 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and Sections 376 (A)(B) and 506(i) of the Indian Penal Code.
The accused has been identified as K Anand (46) from Nagarajapuram. He had been involved in manufacturing PVC doors.
Police arrested him on Friday and remanded him in judicial custody. Later, he was lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison.
