Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Zonal level Bankers review meeting was held on Feb 7, presided by Minister S.P. Velumani at the District Collectorate. The meeting was convened by the State Rural and Urban Livelihood Movement.

Addressing the press after the meeting, Minister S.P. Velumani said, " Preparations for the traditional Jallikattu competition of Coimbatore, for the third year, are in full swing, after discussion with the authorities. The event will be held on Feb 23, 2020. All the necessary facilities and precautions, construction of barricades as per norms, are being undertaken. Medical facilities to the extent of conducting a minor surgery are being put in place. This Jallikattu competition has been held for the last two years in Coimbatore. This is the third year and an audience of around one lakh are expected to view the event."
"Consultations have been held with bank officers regarding loans for Self help groups, through the TN Women Upliftment Association.103.32 lakh people are members in 6.97 lakh self help groups and Rs.63,879 lakhs have been disbursed as loans since 2011", he informed.
"The AIADMK had provided excellent economic growth in the past five years, than anybody else in the past 50 years. Houses for the underprivileged people have been constructed the most, in Coimbatore than anywhere else in India. Rs.2,10,000 has already been issued and banks have been advised to issue the remaining Rs.1 to Rs.1.5 Lakhs soon."
Speaking about the Tanjore temple consecration, he said," The event was conducted splendidly by the Edappadi Government. 615 sanitation workers, of which 365 permanent workers and 250 temporary workers were involved in the event. A total of 664 workers from 18 municipalities in the Tanjore division and 8 municipalities from the Madurai division were involved in the event. In all, 1272 workers worked for 15 days for 24 hours and reoved 2007 metric tonnes of plant wastes. Further 10 lorries, 4 JCB's, 35 Sanitation Inspectors and 42 Sanitation Supervisors were involved in the event."
Appreciating their effort, he said, "All the 1272 workers received Rs.1000 and a certificate of appreciation for their contribution."
