Thaipoosam at Lingabhairavi: Hundreds of women participate with 'Mulaipaari'

Coimbatore: Thaipoosam was celebrated with traditional festivity at Lingabhairavi today. Thousands of devotees thronged the Lingabhairavi temple on this day seeking the blessings of the goddess who is worshipped as the feminine version of the divine. It is the 10th anniversary of the statue's dedication. Every year Navarathri and Thaipoosam are celebrated with great enthusiasm at Isha.

Coimbatore: Thaipoosam was celebrated with traditional festivity at Lingabhairavi today. Thousands of devotees thronged the Lingabhairavi temple on this day seeking the blessings of the goddess who is worshipped as the feminine version of the divine. It is the 10th anniversary of the statue's dedication. Every year Navarathri and Thaipoosam are celebrated with great enthusiasm at Isha. 



The women who participated in the festivities brought the 'Mulaipaari' from Kallipalayam in procession, also planted in the shape of the goddess. They reached Lingabhairavi at 12 noon. They procession came through Alandurai, Madhvarayam, Iruttupallam, Gandhi Colony, Semmedu,Muttathuvayal and other villages, where the villagers welcomed the goddess and prayed for her blessings. 



Women from TN and many other places took part in the celebrations. They had undertaken the Sivanga fasting for 21 days which came to an end on this day, with the offering of coconuts, pulses and sesame to the goddess. Many devotees lit rice flour lamps as a mark of their devotion.



The Lingabhairavi temple is also scheduled for Pournami Poojai from 5.40 PM to 6.40 PM followed by the procession of the Devi statue at 7 PM which will conclude in front of the Nandi statue. Aadhi Yogi Divya Darisanam will take place at 8 PM.
