Coimbatore: As Marudhamalai temple in the city gears up to celebrate the Thaipoosam festival tomorrow, the City Police have beefed up security arrangements around the temple and other places.

According to a senior police official, a total of 1500 police personnel are deployed on security duty across the City. Out of which, 300 personnel will be deployed at the Marudhamalai Subramaniayar Temple to regulate traffic and to ensure safety of the devotees.
As over a lakh devotees are expected to throng the temple to witness the festival, elaborate security arrangements have been made by the police department under the direct supervision of Superintendent of Police, Sujit Kumar.
"Four wheelers and two wheelers will not be permitted to use the road leading from the foothills to the temple. Devotees are advised to use the special buses arranged by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department. The TNSTC also will be operating special buses from several parts of the city to Marudhamalai", an official said.
Perur Santhalinga Adigalar, Minister SP Velumani, Sevur Ramachandran, Legislators, District Collector and several other officials are expected to take part in the Thaipoosam festival at Marudhamalai. Thaipoosam: Over 1500 police to be deployed for security in Coimbatore
