The Nilgiris: In an 'expected' turn of events, the mother of the tribal boy who was subjected to shame by Minister of Forests by asking him to unbuckle his slippers, has withdrawn the complaint lodged at the Masinagudi Police station.

The mother of the tribal boy filed a complaint against the Minister of Forests, Dindugal Srinivasan, under the Prevention of Atrocities against Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes. The Mother has now chose to withdraw the complaint after the Minister met her and the boy in person at a guest house in Ooty, today.

According to a press release by the TN Government, the family of the tribal boy and the villagers were called for a personalised meeting with the Minister at a guest house in Mudumalai. The Minister reportedly apologised to the tribal boy and his mother for his act.

According to sources, only the boy and his family and the other boy in the video were allowed to meet the Minister at the Government Guest House near the District Collectorate. The press and other association members were not allowed.

The members of the associations allege that the family of the boy were forced to revoke the complaint against the Minister.

Earlier, yesterday, Minister of Forests who visited the Elephant Rejuvenation camp at Theppakadu asked a Tribal boy to unbuckle his footwear. The video of the incident has sparked outrage among the people and political parties.
