Tirupur: MP Subbarayan from Tirupur in his recent speech in the Parliament, putforth the demands of the Tirupur entrepreneurs regarding the extension of the Metro Rail Service between Ukkadam and Kaniyur upto Tirupur.
" The proposal for providing Metro Rail Service to Coimbatore City is under consideration. It is learnt that a line is being planned from Ukkadam to Kaniyur. The entrepreneurs of Tirupur have suggested the line to be extended upto Tirupur via the Coimbatore Airport", he spoke in the Parliament.
He further said that Tirupur being an export hub, thousands of people commute between Coimbatore to Tirupur for work everyday. Hence, he suggested that if the metro rail project can connect Tirupur and Coimbatore it would be helpful for the business community of Tirupur and foreign buyers would also benefit out of it.
Citing the huge volume of growing traffic on the National Highways, the MP said it takes hours to reach Coimbatore from Tirupur, even in case of an emergency.
The MP concluded his speech by requesting the concerned departments to look into the proposal.
