Coimbatore: With a motive to help Corporation in maintaining the city clean, SSVM School of excellence at Uppilipalayam has formally adopted a Ward 64 in the East Zone of the Corporation limit.
Coimbatore: With a motive to help Corporation in maintaining the city clean, SSVM School of excellence at Uppilipalayam has formally adopted a Ward 64 in the East Zone of the Corporation limit.
“The initiative will help to keep the neighbourhood cleaner and motivate the sanitary workers", said S Mohandoss, Trustee of SSVM institutions.
He informed that the school has recently started a Swachh Bharat Club involving students to sensitise them on cleanliness and to keep their surroundings clean.
"The school will be providing safety gears for the sanitary workers, push carts, breakfast to the workers every day and have agreed to send volunteers to educate the public about source segregation of wastes at source", said R Raveendran, RAAC.
"By doing so, we are trying to create awareness among the students and teachers about solid waste management. Teachers have been asked to get trained on home composting and take part in two mass cleaning activities which will be planned every month", he added.
