Govt bus service to Upper Villoni estate in Valparai halted due to poor roads

Coimbatore: The dilapidated road and a bridge leading to Upper Villoni estate in Valparai has been closed for traffic as the buses can no longer use the route. As the potholes have deepened further, bus service has been stopped temporarily causing much concern for the estate workers and the students.

As the potholes have deepened further, bus service has been stopped temporarily causing much concern for the estate workers and the students. 



Over 300 families use the road from Varuttuparai near Sholaiyar dam to Upper Villoni estate, the extremely poor roads has been causing severe inconvenience to the people who have met with accidents during rainy seasons. 



The residents have noted that all their pleas to repair the roads has gone in vain. "The road which initially was under the maintanence of TATA tea estate was handed-over to Municipality. Later, it was renovated by the Municipality. Owing to lack of maintanence, the roads have gone beyond repair", the residents lament. 

As the government bus service has been halted since yesterday, the students were unable to go to schools, the residents accused. 

The residents have jointly appealed to the Municipality to repair the road and the bridge on priority.
