Coimbatore: Alleging that a Inspector of Madukkarai police station has been misusing his powers by allowing sale of banned lottery and ignoring complaints of M-sand smuggling across borders, the District DMK cadres petitioned the District Collector demanding departmental action on the alleged erring police officer.
"Inspector Thuyamani Vellachami has been allowing sale of lottery from Kerala and illegal smuggling of M-sand. Despite several complaints, he has not initiated any action. Instead he threatens and registers fake cases on the complainants", the petitioners told.
They also pointed that all efforts by DMK cadres from Madukkarai area to lodge a complaint against the issue fell in deaf ears, as the Inspector refuses to register a complaint or probe the issue.
The petition was submitted on behalf of DMK by MK Selvaraj, Treasurer (suburban) to the District Collector at the grievance day meet held today.
