In a first, Black and Blue Shirt rally planned against social injustice

Coimbatore: "Over 10,000 people including leaders of various political and non-political organisations fighting against social evils, and members of film fraternity will take part in the first-of-a-kind, 'Black-Blue' shirt rally to be organised in Coimbatore on February 9", said K Ramakrishnan, General Secretary of Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam (TPDK) at a press meet here on Friday.

Coimbatore: "Over 10,000 people including leaders of various political and non-political organisations fighting against social evils, and members of film fraternity will take part in the first-of-a-kind, 'Black-Blue' shirt rally to be organised in Coimbatore on February 9", said K Ramakrishnan, General Secretary of Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kazhagam (TPDK) at a press meet here on Friday. 



He added that over 150 organisations including Periyar Unnarvalar Kootamaippu, Periyar Ambedkar Marxist Murpokku Amaippu will be part of this rally which will be flagged off from VKK Menon Road to VOC Ground via the Regional Transport Office in Coimbatore, followed by a caste abolition conference at the stadium. 

"While the black shirt stands for Periyar's ideologies, the blue shirt indicates Ambedkar's ideologies. Clad in either of the colors, the members will take part in the rally to abolish untouchability, denial of employment opportunities based on caste and other social evils", he said. 

"As the police continued to deny permission for the rally, a petition was filed by 'Periyar Unnarvalar Kootamaippu' in the Chennai High Court. The Court had granted permission for the rally and the conference in which over heads of various organisations fighting against social injustices will take part", informed K Ramakrishnan of TPDK. 

He informed that Gujarat MLA and Rashtriya Dalit Adhikar Manch Chairman, Jignesh Mevani, Dravidar Kazhagam, Leader Veeramani, Viduthalai Siruthaigal Leader, Thol Thirumavalavan, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi Leader, Jawaharulla, SDPI State President, Tehlan Bhagavi, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi Leader, Tahmimum Ansari, Tamil Nadu Kongu Ilaignar Peravai President Thaniyarasu, Welfare Party of India State General State Secretary, Abdul Rahman will lead the rally. 

Members of film fraternity including Actor Sathyaraj, Director Vetrimaran, P. Ranjith, Karu Palaniappan and Dr. Shalini will be participating, he told. 

During the press conference, Venmani Dravidar Tamil Party, Adi Tamilar Peravai General Secretary Ravi Kumar, General Secretary of the Tamil Puligal Party of Ilavenil, Naveen Coordinator Tamil Vidiyal Party, Aaruchami Assembly Committee Member, Thanthai Periyar Dravida Kalagam and many participated.
