Man arrested for smuggling Marijuana

Coimbatore: Officials from the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) arrested a man for smuggling Marijuana.

Coimbatore: Officials from the Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (NIB) arrested a man for smuggling Marijuana. 

Acting upon a tip off, that college students in Coimbatore are supplied with Marijuana, a team headed by NIB Deputy Superindentent Vincent, Police Inspector Saravanan were on surveillance at the central railway station, on Wednesday. 

When they intercepted a passenger they fell dubious and inquired him. Upon inquiry, the man revealed that his name was S Ilayaraja (55) from Uthampalayam near Theni. 

He revealed that he had purchased 22 kgs of Marijuana form Andhra Pradesh and smuggled it into Tamil Nadu for sale to college students. 

The police seized the Marijuana packets and arrested him. He was later imprisoned in the Coimbatore Central jail under judicial custody.
