The accident that happened during school working hours, endangered the lives of school boys playing the ground while the tractor hit the wall.
According to onlookers, the driver of the tractor belonging to the TAB chambers, was driving rashly and in his attempt to keep the tractor in control, reportedly caused the accident. Onlookers also claimed that he was under the influence of alcohol.
“Two boys were playing very close to the wall when the accident happened. But ran away just in time or else anything could have happened,” said an onlooker.
While no action was taken against the driver or the chamber owners despite the incident jeopardising the lives of students, the school management informed that the owner of the chamber had promised to reconstruct the school wall.
“I had informed the school management to take necessary actions. The chamber owner had promised to repair the wall,” said Chief Education Officer of Coimbatore, P. Ayyanan.
Meanwhile, activists complained that tractors were being illegally used to transport bricks by the chambers, whereas tractors should be used only for agriculture purposes.
No FIR has been filed in this regard, as of Tuesday.
