Coimbatore: Burglars decamped with 100 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs. 10 lakh cash from the house of a businessman in Masakalipalayam near Singanallur, when he was out with his family on vacation.
Coimbatore: Burglars decamped with 100 sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs. 10 lakh cash from the house of a businessman in Masakalipalayam near Singanallur, when he was out with his family on vacation.
The house located at Periyar Nagar near Masakkalipalayam belongs to Aadam Shah, a businessman running a engineering workshop in Pattanam area in Coimbatore. On January 24, Shah and his family left to his hometown in Thoothukudi.
Making use of their absence, burglars had broke into Shah's house and broke open the three almirahs and escaped with jewels and cash.
Shah came to know about the burglary when he returned on Monday morning and informed the Singanallur police. According to reports, the burglars escaped with 100 sovereign of gold ornaments and Rs. 10 lakh cash.
As the residence is not equipped with CCTV, the police are trying to source the CCTV footages from nearby houses and shops. Fingerprint experts collected samples from the house. Investigations are on.
