As part of the 71st Republic day celebrations, Grama Sabha meetings were held in several panchayats in rural areas to allow rural people register their grievances and propose ideas for developing their villages.
In Karamadai Panchayat Union in Mettupalayam, Grama Sabha meetings were held today in 17 panchayat areas including Odanthurai, Jadayampalayam and Chikkadasampalayam chaired by their respective Panchayat Presidents.
At the meeting, the Panchayat heads briefed allotted for their Panchayat last year and the proposed current year budget. Discussions were held to improve the basic amenities in their villages like drinking water, street lighting and drainage.
In the meeting, petitions were received from eligible beneficiaries for free patta and housing scheme by the government. Resolutions were passed to eradicate banned plastic products and work closely with the government to create a pollution-free Panchayat.
