Coimbatore: In a rare phenomenon, a leopard has been attacked and killed by a tiger in Valparai.
According to reports from the forest department, Thangaraj, a estate staff at Vellamalai Mattam tea estate in Valparai found a leopard in a partially decomposed state and informed the forest department.
Upon information, the foresters from Manampalli forest range arrived to the spot and examined the carcass. The leopard had sustained grievous injuries in its stomach area, possibly attacked by a tiger.
Further, under the supervision of Marimuthu, Director of Anamalai Tiger Reserve the autopsy was conducted and the body parts of the leopard was sent to Coimbatore.
Initial autopsy report revealed that the dead leopard is a male and could be around 2-years-old.
