Tirupur: Tiruppur District Collector K Vijayakarthikeyan hoisted the National Flag during the 71st Republic Day Celebrations at Chikkanna Government College Grounds in Tiruppur.
The 71st Republic Day is being celebrated nationwide today. As a part of this, at the Chikkanna College Grounds here in Tiruppur, the district administration had arranged for the annual Republic Day ceremony here. Following this, District Collector K Vijayakarthikeyan arrived at the flag platform and hoisted the National Flag at 8 am and accepted the guard of honour.
The guard of honour was performed by the police. He received the police parade in an open jeep. After this, he paid his respect to families of martyrs from Tiruppur. He then went on to distribute the Chief Minister's medals to 55 policemen and certificates to 239 public servants and policemen who had done well.
A total of 515 beneficiaries were provided with welfare assistance of Rs. 93.47 lakhs. Students from 8 schools and colleges performed colourful cultural events and they were all awarded with certificates for the participation in the event.
The function was attended by SP Disha Mittal, Municipal Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar, Municipal Deputy Commissioner Badri Narayanan, DRO Sukumar, Chief Education Officer Ramesh and all district officials, school and college teachers.
