71st Republic Day: Flag hoisting, cultural programs, welfare disbursements and 127 police officers awarded in a grand celebration

The 71st Republic Day is being celebrated nationwide today. As a part of this, at the VOC Grounds here in Coimbatore, the district administration had arranged for the annual Republic Day ceremony at the stadium. Following this, District Collector K Rajamani arrived at the flag platform which was erected at the VOC Grounds in Coimbatore and hoisted the National Flag at 8 am and accepted the guard of honor.

The 71st Republic Day is being celebrated nationwide today.  As a part of this, at the VOC Grounds here in Coimbatore, the district administration had arranged for the annual Republic Day ceremony at the stadium. Following this, District Collector K Rajamani arrived at the flag platform which was erected at the VOC Grounds in Coimbatore and hoisted the National Flag at 8 am and accepted the guard of honour.



Following the flag hoist, the District Collector accepted the guard of honour from police personnel, armed reserve police, traffic police, fire safety personnel, home guards, National Cadet Corps.



Thereafter, Rs. 29.40 lakhs for 8 persons through District Collector Women’s Welfare Program, Rs. 20.55 lakhs loan for 55 persons through the Self Help Groups and Central Cooperative Bank, 11 persons who had died or had disability during work were given Rs. 75000 through the Labour Welfare Scheme, 2 persons through the District Industrial Center were given of Rs. 2,40,75,000 to start textile mill and spare parts manufacturing companies, 5 persons were presented Rs. 4.75 lakhs through the Horticulture Department and Agricultural Center, 20 persons received Rs. 6.88 lakhs through the District Adidravidar and Tribal Welfare Department and 3 persons were given Rs. 14,33,750 for procuring three and four wheelers under TAHDCO schemes. In all, 158 beneficiaries received through several welfare schemes a sum total of Rs. 3,32,13,345. 

During the ceremony, gifts and certificates were given to distinguished persons from the Coimbatore Fire Department, Healthcare, Education, Public Service and distinguished martyrs of the Coimbatore District during the Republic Day celebrations.



This was followed by spectacular performances by schoolchildren. District Revenue Officer Ramadurai Murugan, Coimbatore Medical College Dean Ashokan, DIG Karthikeyan, Coimbatore Police Commissioner Sumit Saran, Superintendent of Police Sujit Kumar, Crime Branch Commissioner Uma, Law and Order Commissioner Balaji Saravanan and others were present.
