The Nilgiris: Ahead of the 71st Republic day, a mini marathon was organised at Madras Regiment Centre, Wellington Cantonment in Coonoor on Saturday.
The mini marathon was organised under two categories - 3km and 5km in which over 500 people from all walks of life, especially youngsters, soldiers and their families took part.
The marathon also aimed to motivate the youngsters to join the armed forces. Despite inclement weather conditions, children and adults participated in the marathon with zeal.
The event was inaugurated by Brigadier RS Guraya, Commander of the MRC at Wellington.
The winners of the competitions were awarded by Hardeep Gor Guraya, wife of MRC Commander who was the guest of honor.
