Awareness rally as a part of National Voter Day in Coimbatore: District Collector inaugurates rally

Coimbatore: District Collector K. Rajamani inaugurated the Voter Day awareness rally today (25.01.2020) in the premises of District Collector's office to celebrate National Voter's Day.

Many college students participated in the rally, and held banners emphasizing the importance of voting. This awareness rally started at the District Collectorate complex and proceeded to the Race Course Road.



District Revenue Officer Ramadurai Murugan, Deputy Commissioner Corporation Prasanna Ramasamy, District Collector's Assistant (Election) Pon Muthuramalingam, Revenue Attorneys Dhanalingam, Suresh, Assistant Corporation Commissioner Mahesh, Divisional Officers (Elections) Sundaraman were also present. 

District Collector Rajamani said:

"National Voter's Day" is observed on January 25 every year. The day aims to inspire young voters and create awareness among people that voting should be their duty. India is the largest democracy in the world. All people over the age of 18 are eligible to vote because with no restriction of caste, creed and ethnicity.

Various awareness programs have been organized to create awareness among voters to make 100% vote possible in each election. Special camps have been organized to add voters above 18-year-old. Similar to the rally that started today, voter awareness campaigns are being held in all parts of the revenue circle and villages in the Coimbatore district. The aim is to create a strong democracy where all voters must vote 100% and fulfill their democratic obligations, said District Collector K. Rajamani. 



Following this in the District Collector auditorium prize distribution ceremony was held for all the students who won in several competitions like essay writing, drawing competitions, speech competition and more. Special recognition was also presented to the officers who excelled as poll station officers in their duty. 

Earlier, on National Voter Day, the District Collector, Government Officers, Employees, New Voters, District Collector's office employees, and the public took the voter pledge.
