Coimbatore: Swift action by the fire and rescue personnel averted a major fire disaster at the TNSTC workshop located on Mettupalayam road here on Saturday.
On Saturday morning, a State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) bus bearing number TN-01 AN 2371 which was parked for repair works at the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) workshop in Kauvdampalayam on MTP road, caught fire.
Seeing thick fumes of smoke from the bus, Parthasarathy a service advisor at the workshop alerted the employees and informed the fire and rescue personnel.
The fire personnel from North fire station here rushed to the spot and doused the fire quickly. As more than 100 buses were parked at the workshop, a major fire accident was averted due to the alert staff and the fire personnel.
