In order to encourage more young voters to take part in the political process, National Voters’ day is celebrated in India on 25th January since the year 2011 to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India (ECI).
Themed 'Electoral Literacy for a Stronger Democracy', the District Collector of Tirupur flagged off the Voter's day rally which was attended by college students. Students held placards and marched to raise awareness on the importance of voting.
The rally commenced at District Collectorate and passed through Palladam road, Lakshmi marriage hall and concluded at LRG Govt Arts College for Women.
He also inaugurated the Human Rights Week on behalf of the District Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Department.
A photographic exhibition of the work done on behalf of the Adivasi Welfare Department, and as well as the Badagas Ethnic Dance was also performed.
