Coimbatore: In a welcome move, the State Government has released work orders to build 15 Green House beneficiaries in the tribal hamlet of Kandivazhi in Anaikatti hills here.
Officials have further stated that three more beneficiaries would be added to the list soon.
The hamlet that hosts more than 20 families has 21 beneficiaries, of which three have already obtained orders and have started construction.
The remaining beneficiaries continue to stay in thatched or leaking roofs that hang dangerously alongside cracked up walls.
The people of the hamlet were moved to a safe place in a school during the previous monsoon seasons as the houses were in a highly dilapidated state.
District Collector K. Rajamani, who visited the hamlet in August last year had assured that the district administration would also try for private sponsoring to complete the constructions.
The Government would provide a sum of Rs. 2.1 lakh for each beneficiary. Since the construction of an individual house would cost around Rs. 3 lakh, private sponsorship are sought for total completion.
Similar ventures have been implemented in hamlets including Dhumanur and Chembukkarai in 24 Veerapandi Panchayat in the Anaikatti hills.
