Coimbatore: The Department of Women Studies, Bharathiar University in association with In-Service Training Centre has organized a training programme on 'Gender Budgeting' from January 22-24, here.
With gender inequalities still visible in the modern society, gender budgeting aims to address such inequalities by ensuring that public policy is designed and delivered in an inclusive manner which recognizes women as key contributors to economic advancement.
Funded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, the three-day programme was inaugurated by DIG Karthikeyan, Coimbatore Range, on Wednesday.
In his inaugural address, he highlighted on the importance of the programme to the Police Personnel and motivated the participants to enrich their knowledge about Gender Budgeting which has been adopted as a tool for mainstreaming gender perspective at various stages of planning, budgeting, implementation, impact assessment and revisiting of policy/programme objectives and allocations.
44 police officers from Coimbatore division including Tirupur, Nilgiris and Erode will be attending the training programme.
