Coimbatore: Alleging that no FIR was filed against their complaint on Actor Rajinikanth at Kattoor Police Station, District President of Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam (DVK) has resorted to the High Court. In the petition, names of the City Police Commissioner and Kattoor police inspector has also been added.

Speaking on the issue, Nehru Das, District President of DVK said that "On January 17, we petitioned to the City Police Commissioner to initiate action against Actor Rajinikanth for his controversial speech against Thanthai Periyar. Upon Commissioner's direction, we approached the Kattoor police station to file a case. However, after issuing CSR, no FIR was filed. Even after repeated follow-ups, the police did not file FIR. Hence, we decided to escalate the issue to the High Court."
He added that names of both City Police Commissioner and Kattoor police inspector has been added in the petition for inaction.
Recently, at the 50th anniversary of Thuglak, Actor Rajinikanth remarked that in 1971 Periyar carried out a rally where he paraded nude pictures of Ram and Sita garlanded with slippers.
Claiming it to be false and aimed to demean Periyar, Dravidian political parties, Periyar organisations, and public have registered their strong condemnation against the Actor.
