Starting from free sewing classes for women to free medical facilities, the mosque that was inaugurated on Sunday here at Vellalore intends to nurture peace and harmony among people irrespective of their caste, creed and religion.
Earlier, the mosque was inaugurated by President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Maulavi Muhammad Hanifa Manfie and Janaf Hussein Dinar in the presence of Janaf, District President of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, P.S. Omar Farooq and others.
Over 3000 families from several parts of the city of Coimbatore who were evicted from Poramboke lands are housed in the housing units built by Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board located in Vellalore. As a majority of the families were Muslims, they jointly requested the Jamath to build a mosque for them, as they had to travel far to access the nearest mosque.
Accepting their plea, the District Jamaat-e-Islami Hind had built a mosque for the families and named it as "Masjidul Muhajreen". The families have expressed joy and that thanked the organisation for building a mosque in their area which will stand as a sign of peace and harmony in the years to come.
