TNSTC Coimbatore Division earns Rs.3 crore from special buses operated for Pongal

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore division of Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation have earned Rs 3 crore from the 1781 special buses operated for Pongal holidays.

Coimbatore: The Coimbatore division of Tamil Nadu Transport Corporation have earned Rs 3 crore from the 1781 special buses operated for Pongal holidays. 

To clear the festive rush, special buses were operated from various divisions of the TNSTC including Coimbatore, Erode, Salem and Trichy from January 10-15, 2020. 

On January 10, 68 buses were operated in total. Out of which, 15 special buses were from Coimbatore, 16 special buses from Ooty, 27 special buses from Erode and 10 special buses from Tirupur.

On January 11, a total of 97 special buses were operated. 28 special buses from Coimbatore, 7 special buses from Ooty, 42 special buses from Erode and 10 special buses from Tirupur.

On January 13, a total of 158 were operated; 43 from Coimbatore, 14 from Ooty, 65 from Erode and 15 from Tirupur.

And, a total of 966 were operated on January 14, 2020; 391 from Coimbatore, 24 from Ooty, 283 from Erode and 268 special buses from Tirupur. And, a total of 380 were operated on January 16 - 90 from Coimbatore, 51 from Ooty, 138 from Erode and 101 special buses from Tirupur.

Through the operation of these special buses the Coimbatore Division has made a turnover of Rs.1.18 crore, Ooty division Rs.42 lakhs, Erode Rs.1.13 crore and Tirupur Rs.82 lakhs. A total of Rs.3,76,86,000 was made operating 1781 special buses, according to TNSTC. 

Further, special buses will be operated from January 17 to 21 to help passengers returning back after the Pongal holidays. Buses will be operated from Singanallur Bus Stand to Madurai, Trichy and Theni regions, Coimbatore suburban bus stand will operate buses to Salem and Chennai, as usual. 

Similarly, the Coimbatore Division will operate 3000 trips of buses to Madurai, Trichy, Theni, Thirunelveli, Nagarkovil, Salem, Chennai and other districts, informed the authorities.
