Coimbatore: Kaanum Pongal was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm by the people of Coimbatore, on Friday. As a part of the celebration, hundreds of people gathered at Kovai Kutralam falls to spend time on the occassion.

Since morning, the Siruvani main road leading to Kovai Kutralam was jam-packed with two-wheelers and four-wheelers heading towards the Kovai Kutralam located on the foothills of the Siruvani hills.
Vehicles were arranged by the forest department to transport people from the parking lot to the falls area. However, due to excess crowd, the forest department had to use their jeeps to transport people from one end to another.
The belongings of the tourists were scrutinised and instructions were given to avoid littering around the area. Cigarettes, plastics covers, match boxes were not permitted.
Through loudspeaker announcements, the foresters advised the public to take bath safely and not to trespass into the forest area due to wild animal movement.
Briefing on their experience on Kannum Pongal celebrations at the Kovai Kutralam falls, the public expressed their satisfaction and appreciated the forest department for meticulously arranging things to ensure safety of the tourists. The forest department officials have made excellent arrangements, they told.
Visitors commended the forest department for maintaining cleanliness at the falls area.
