Coimbatore: In order to create awareness about nature to school students and encourage them to learn about their environment, the Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) would be conducting a one day nature contest on Sunday, the 19th of January here.
Coimbatore: In order to create awareness about nature to school students and encourage them to learn about their environment, the Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON) would be conducting a one day nature contest on Sunday, the 19th of January here.
The contest, which is to be done at GD Matriculation Higher Secondary School in the city, is a one day event starting from 9.00 am, organised by the Nature Education division of SACON. It is done every year to celebrate the birth anniversary of late Salim Ali, the Father of Indian Ornithology.
Themed at Nature Conservation and Global Climate Change, the contest would see more than 2000 students from over 60 schools, compete at different categories
Contests including pencil shading, essay writing, poetry writing (English and Tamil), painting, quiz and bird watching, would be conducted on the day for students.
While topics would be given on the spot for contests, a special award titled ‘Young Bird Watcher’ would ve presented. The school that performs well in all contest would revive the ‘Champion of the Year’ award.
