Coimbatore: Condemning Actor Rajinikanth's speech on Thanthai Periyar, the cadres of Dravidar Viduthalai Kalagam have petitioned to the City Police Commissioner to initiate legal action on him.
"Actor Rajni's speech at Thuglak Magazines 50th year celebration is highly reprehensible, as all his accusations on Periyar is false and baseless. His speech has triggered restlessness among Periyarists and intended to defame his name. As stated by Rajni, slippers were not hurled at Ram and Sita statues at the rally held in 1971 headed by Periyar" the petitioners told.
They alleged that his comments has caused a stir in the political circles and among several lakh people who respect Periyar. Hence, he has to be booked under section 154 and 505 for provocating violence/riot and for making false/rumor statements.
