Coimbatore: District Collector K. Rajamani on Tuesday held a review meeting with heads of all departments to discuss on the District Analysis Report and status of projects through the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project (TNRTP).
Coimbatore: District Collector K. Rajamani on Tuesday held a review meeting with heads of all departments to discuss on the District Analysis Report and status of projects through the Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project (TNRTP).
Tamil Nadu Rural Transformation Project (TNRTP) is a unique project initiated with financial assistance from World Bank. The project aims to create a profound and sustainable development in the rural communities beyond poverty alleviation by building sustainability and prosperity of rural communities through rural enterprise promotion, access to finance and employment opportunities in the selected blocks in Tamil Nadu.
District Collector K. Rajamani said that the scheme will create new entrepreneurs in rural areas and enhance the economy of the district and requested the cooperation of all department officials.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs.918.20 crores. The project is located at a 70:30 ratio between the World Bank and the Government of Tamil Nadu. The World Bank's contribution is Rs 642.74 crore and the Tamil Nadu government contribution is Rs 277.46 crore.
The scheme is being implemented in 54 Gram Panchayats in Coimbatore district including Karamadai, Periyanaickenpalayam, Sarkar Samakulam and Annur.
Speaking of the project, the District Collector said "The estimated cost of the project is Rs.918.20 crores which will be shared in 70:30 ratio between the World Bank and the Government of Tamil Nadu. Rs 642.74 crore will be contributed by the world bank and Rs 277.46 crore by the government of TN."
He noted that the project will build on existing institutional capital and investments made by TNEPRP, TNSRLM and NRLP. Families of members of the Self Help Group, with assets, sites and capabilities created by previous projects, will be the primary target of this project. The project will focus on women, adivasis, tribals, disabled people, youth and entrepreneurs.
The scheme will benefit all stakeholders, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs from agro-based and non-agro-sectors in selected regions. The scheme will be implemented in two phases in Tamil Nadu in 26 districts in 120 districts and 3994 Gram Panchayats in two phases, he noted.
The meeting was attended by District Revenue Officer Ramadurai Murugan, District Rural Development Agency Program Director Ramesh Kumar, Tamil Nadu State Livelihood Movement Women's Program Selvaraju, District Secretary (Tamil Nadu Rural Development Project), Phillips Ilayarajah and many other government officials.
