The Nilgiris: Upon information from the locals of Edappalli Village in Coonoor of a severely injured gaur, the forest department today tranquilized, the animal and treated it.
The locals spotted the gaur limping and a broken metal pipe stuck to its leg. Following which the foresters were informed.
A team of forest department staff led by Deputy Forest Officer, Saravanan along with Veterinarian, Kochhalan tranquilized the gaur and commenced treatment. The villagers appreciated the foresters for their action.
