Tirupur: In a grievous incident, a social activist and one of the organisers of NGO Sigarangal Foundation passed away due to cardiac arrest on his pilgrimage to Sabarimala.
As per reports, Shanmugasundaram (32) complained of chest pain near Erumeli in Sabarimala. Amid administering first aid, he passed away.
Shanmugasundaram owns a knitting job work factory in Tirupur and was involved in various community activities including planting saplings. A noted organiser of blood donation drives, he was instrumental in bringing people together for donating blood, recall his friends.
The untimely death of the young social activist has left his family, friends, industrialists and other social activists shattered.
It may be noted that as many as 19 devotees died of cardiac arrest in Sabarimala in the last season starting from November to December 2019.
