Coimbatore: Over 1000 students of Government Arts and Science College at Valparai celebrated Samathuva Pongal at their college on Monday.
Coimbatore: Over 1000 students of Government Arts and Science College at Valparai celebrated Samathuva Pongal at their college on Monday.
Clad in traditional attire, the students drew big colorful kolams in the college grounds and decorated their college with sugarcane and balloons.
The celebration was chaired by Principal, Dr. Pon Muthuramalingam, who initiated the celebration by adding rice into the Pongal pots. The students cooked Pongal the traditional way in mud pots and chanted 'Pongalo Pongal...'
Various cultural events like dance and music were also held.
