Coimbatore: As informed earlier, one lakh signatures have been collected against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) from Coimbatore were submitted to the District Collector on Monday.

Representatives from Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam and Manitha Neya Makkal Katchi held a rally last week to garner signatures from people condemning the CAA. Today, they submitted the signatures to the Collector.

Over 2000 people, mostly Muslims including women and children rallied from Ukkadam to Town Hall urging the Centre to repeal CAA.
Addressing the media, they said that while some States have announced that they will not implement CAA, the AIADMK MPs have voted in favour of the amendment. They demanded that the Government of Tamil Nadu should immediately convene a cabinet meeting and take a decision to not implement the law in TN.
