Coimbatore: The Kattoor police on Monday arrested a 25-year-old youth for allegedly impersonating a police officer and threatening a woman.

The arrested person has been identified as Prasanth from Coimbatore.
According to reports, Rajeshwari (49), wife of Subramaniam works as a teacher at a school in Ramnagar. A few months back, Rajeshwari had secured a cash loan from a bank to help her colleague Pradeep Kumar, who was in urgent need of cash. However, allegedly Pradeep has been not repaying the loan amount to Rajeshwari ontime. In spite of her reminding him often, he continued to be passive.
In this scenario, recently Rajeshwari got a call from a man who introduced himself as Police Inspector of Kattoor Police Station. The man warned Rajeshwari to stop asking the loan repayment to Pradeep and also threatened her of dire consequences, if she continues to follow up with Pradeep for repayment.
Rajeshwari who felt dubious about the call, inquired with the Kattoor Police and learnt that the call was fake. Wasting no time, she immediately registered a complaint with the Kattoor police station who held an inquiry with Pradeep Kumar.
Upon investigation with him, it came to light that Pradeep's brother, Prasanth had initiated the fake call.
Following which, an FIR has been filed on the accused for impersonation and murder threat.
