Coimbatore: Coimbatore has yet again maintained its first place in the smart city project, under the Smart Cities Mission, for executive of smart city projects.
A meeting was organised recently in Chennai by Municipal Administration and Water Supply during which progress of smart city projects in each city were assessed.
According to data obtained for the month of December, Coimbatore has completed 18 projects and around 21 projects are under execution. Among the completed projects is the one-megawatt capacity solar power plant at Kavundampalayam.
In terms of lake rejuvenation, the cleaning and rejuvenation of all eight lakes in the city are currently in progress. And, tenders have been called for model road project at Race Course and Bio- mining project at Vellalore dump yard.
Following Coimbatore, Erode and Chennai were positioned at second and third place respectively for executing smart Cities works.
