Appreciating his integrity, Police Commissioner Sumit Sharan along with Deputy Commissioner L. Balaji Saravanan met Gopu, the auto driver in person and presented him with a gift, as a taken of appreciation.
Gayathri, from Sundarasa Iyer lay-out in Trichy Road is working as an executive officer at a private insurance company. While she was on her way to her home in a two wheeler, she misplaced a bag containing gold ornaments worth Rs. 2.5 lakhs.
Gopu (37), an auto driver from Saibaba Colony area found a unclaimed bag on the roadside and handed it over to the police.
Subsequently, the jewellery was handed over to Gayatri in the presence of Police Commissioner Sumit Saran and other senior officials.
Citing similar incidents in the past, the Police Commissioner commended the good deeds of such people which has helped the victims recover their lost property.
