Coimbatore: As many as 50 students from the Bharathiar University enjoyed a refreshing birding session at their campus along with staff and experts as a part of the Kovai Vizha today.
Coimbatore: As many as 50 students from the Bharathiar University enjoyed a refreshing birding session at their campus along with staff and experts as a part of the Kovai Vizha today.
The students, who are members of the Nature Club of the Univeristy and Department of Zoology, were guided by expert bird watchers R. Mohammed Saleem from Environmental Conservation Group and K.R. Karthikeyan from Osai environmental organisation.
Walking around the campus, they spotted 55 bird species including Asian Paradise Flycatcher, Marsh Harrier and Blue faced Malkoha during the Aves Trek.
Later on the day, Ragupathi Kannan, Professor of the Department of Ornithology from the University of Arkansas delivered a special lecture on the reality of anthropogenic climate crisis.
Speaking at the event, he pointed out the damages caused by humans in the environment and also explained how to reverse the damage.
