The Nilgiris: Pongal, the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu festival which holds great importance among the people of Tamil Nadu is less than a week away. Marking the festivity, students and adminstration of Ooty Government Arts College in Ooty celebrated Pongal with great pomp on Thursday.

Aimed at imparting the culture and tradition to the younger generation, a wide range of cultural events like Oyilattam, Silabam were held. Kolam competitions were also held in which hundreds of students took part with zeal and displayed culture through colorful Kolams.
Music and dance competitions were also held as part of the celebrations.
Earlier, the event was inaugurated by Principal Eshwaramoorthy who along with students chanted "Pongalo Pongal".
