Coimbatore: A 49-year-old man from Rajapalayam is in the custody of Thudiyalur police after he stabbed his adopted daughter near Thudiyalur here on Thursday. The public who witnessed the incident thrashed him and handed over to Thudiyalur police station.

Ten years ago, Durairaj (49) from Rajapalayam adopted Madhu, an orphan girl. Madhu, who is now 23-years-old is employed in a private concern in Coimbatore.
According to initial police reports, Durairaj did not like Madhu working in Coimbatore, hence he has been repeatedly asking her to quit job and come back to Rajapalayam. However, Madhu was not interested to go back to her home town. It is also alleged that she stole few jewels from her home, when she left Rajapalayam.
On Thursday morning, Durairaj arrived to Coimbatore to convince and take Madhu back home. He was waiting for her at VSK Nagar bus stop near Vadamadurai. Soon after Madhu arrived, the father and daughter entered into a tussle which escalated to an assualt.
Durairaj in a fit of rage, stabbed his daughter multiple times leaving her grievously injured.
When he tried to escape, the public who witnessed the incident caught and thrashed him. He was then handed over to Thudiyalur police. Following which, Durairaj was arrested and an inquiry is on.
Madhu who sustained deep injuries to her hand was sent to Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment.
The incident caused a stir in the area.
