Coimbatore: The ICSI organised its Convocation 2019, for the Southern Region today, in Coimbatore to award Associate Membership of the Institute to the newly qualified CS Members. Around 300 members attended the convocation.

The Chief Guest was Prof. Dr. P. Kaliraj, VC of Bharathiar University and Rajesh Sodhi, Principal Commissioner, GST & Central Excise, Coimbatore, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India graced the occasion as Guest of Honour.
Prof. Dr. P. Kaliraj congratulated the newly qualified Company Secretaries. Speaking at the event Rajesh Sodhi urged, "the members must follow the path of truth and ethics in their future endeavours. They must guide the corporate world on corporate governance and compliances."
Addressing the gathering, CS Ranjeet Pandey, President, ICSI said, "the ICSI is planning to open international offices in at least 10 countries in the next year. More company secretaries are moving to various countries but the demand for Indian company secretaries keeps increasing. Therefore the need for more International offices abroad has increased."
He also stated, "the institute has two overseas branches at present and has plans to open an office in London in the near future." Pandey also said, "ICSI will first enter into MoUs with similar institutes in other countries and then open offices in a phased manner. International offices will help update the company secretaries settled abroad regarding the advancements in the field", he said.
To a question on the demand supply gap, Pandey said that Institute was making break even availability, since many individuals prefer to practice and like to go to employment.
CS Ashok Kumar Dixit, Officiating Secretary, ICSI declared the convocation open and also proposed the vote of thanks.
Convocation of the ICSI is held twice every year to award the Certificate of Membership to newly qualified members and welcome them to the CS fraternity and foster a sense of belongingness to the profession and the institute.

ICSI and Bharathiar University have entered into an agreement for awarding the university toppers in commerce stream, with ICSI Signature Award and Certificate.
