Tirupur: A whopping Rs.1000 crore loss is estimated in the dollar city due to the nation-wide bandh, today in which nearly 25 crore people are likely to take part in the strike to protest against government's "anti-people" policies.
Tirupur: A whopping Rs.1000 crore loss is estimated in the dollar city due to the nation-wide bandh, today in which nearly 25 crore people are likely to take part in the strike to protest against government's "anti-people" policies.
Most of the knitwear, apparels, and industrial units in Tirupur have extended their support for the bandh. Shops in Tirupur remain closed and only few public transport were operational.
Apparel manufacturers, including hosiery units are said to incur a loss of Rs. 200 Crore, due to production halt. Whereas, banking and foreign exchange trading loss is estimated at Rs. 800 crores.
Banking operations were severely hit, as over 2000 bank employees are participating in the bandh.
In the wake of several small and marginal hosiery businesses being closed down, many including the public are said to have indulged in roadblock condemning the central government in front of the central post office at 10 am today at Tirupur.
