The Nilgiris: On behalf of the Department of Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, the Nilgiris District Collector, J. Innocent Divya distributed welfare assistance worth Rs.6 lakhs on Tuesday.
"Special camps have been organised in six taluks in the district from January 9 to 13 to facilitate differently-abled people get access to all welfare schemes announced by the government. The Nilgiris district administration strives to identify differently-abled persons, support and motivate them to excel in life", said the Collector.
"Around 13,243 differently abled persons have been issued National identity cards in the district. All welfare assistance approved by the State and Centre has been provided to them", assured the Collector.
Welfare measures like tailoring machines, eye glasses amounting to Rs. 6 lakhs were distributed to 75 differently abled persons at the event.
Officials from the Department of Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Ooty College of Pharmacy, Principal and Dean Dr. Dhanabal and others attended the event.
